As part of preparation for the February 2019 general elections, political parties were to elect their candidates for the general elections. Sadly, most of the primary elections across the country were smeared in vote-buying, thuggery, car-smashing, imposition of candidates, snatching of electoral materials, shootings, injuries and killings. Political parties were at the forefront of this democratisation of violence.
