ALL ON NIGERIA – OFF GRID ENERGY BUSINESS REPORT

by knnaka

One of the major factors affecting the penetration of renewable energy in off-grid energy in Nigeria is market uncertainty and the unavailability of market intelligence in the sector.

The total installed mini-grid power capacity across the 21 mini-grids visited was 2.192MW, and the total population across all 21 communities being supplied power by these mini-grids was about 95,000 people. This translates to a power capacity of 23W per person.

This report summarises the Nigerian energy sector, a survey of the off-grid market size in 21 communities across 11 states in Nigeria, the constraints and opportunities for growth and development of the off-grid market in Nigeria, and policy recommendations.
