News Reports Gunmen Abduct Bank Manager in Bayelsa by joshuabiem June 20, 2023 written by joshuabiem June 20, 2023 93 Gunmen have abducted the Operations Manager of a new generation bank, Mrs. Nneka Ugoanochie, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The abduction, said to have occured last weekend around the PDP junction area of the Sanni Abacha Express Road, jolted many residents due to the multiple presence of joint security checkpoints along the main road. The victim, Ugoanochie, is said to be an indigene of Owerri, Imo State but works in Bayelsa. Security sources said the victim had been warned several times to relocate from her area of residence, adjacent to the residence of the arrested suspected notorious kidnappers, John Ewa, aka John Lyon and Emmanuel Agase. It was gathered the operatives of Operation Puff Adder, anti-kidnapping squad of the Bayelsa State Police Command, had provided security to her residence but the arrangement was altered while she allegedly complained of cost of logistics. It was also gathered that she was forewarned that until the State Government approved the seizure of the building owned by the arrested kidnappers, she should be vigilant and security conscious. A close Police source, however, said that the abduction might be associated with members of the remaining gang of the “celebrity kidnappers”. “We warned her to relocate for sometime because our intelligence report showed that she was being monitored to be abducted”, the police source, who craved anonymity because he was not empowered to talk the press, disclosed. Police spokesman Asinim Butswat could not be reached as of the time of filing the report.
