News Reports Police After Thugs For Attacking Adamawa First Lady’s Convoy by joshuabiem February 6, 2023 written by joshuabiem February 6, 2023 99 Police operatives in Adamawa State have gone after thugs who damaged the press bus in the convoy of wife of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, Hajia Lami Fintiri. A statement on Monday said Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande has deployed operatives from the Special Rapid Response Team (SRRT) and other tactical squads to raid the suspected gangsters who pelted Lami Fintiri’s bus used by newsmen who cover her activities. The attack, which occurred in Muchalla, Mubi North Local Government Area, on Saturday, left the screens of the bus shattered, but witnesses said nobody was injured as the bus had just the driver when the attack occurred. The bus was however badly damaged, leaving shattered windscreens and badly dented body works. The Police said its operatives checked and arrested the culprits to coordinate timely response to distress calls and to prevent political gangsterism in the state. A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, said: “The CP has equally directed Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations to lead all Divisional police officers, Operational Commanders and Area Commanders to ensure total domination of the public space and arrest trouble makers.” There was no indication as to when this report was filed why the attackers went for the First Lady’s press vehicle as nobody on the first lady or government side had said anything regarding the incident. Our correspondent reports that this is the first known case of violence since the two major governorship candidates in Adamawa State began their campaigns last year. The state-wide campaigns of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani of All Progressives Congress (APC) have been peaceful.
