News Reports Police Rescue Two Villagers Nine Days after Abduction in Gombe by joshuabiem October 19, 2023 written by joshuabiem October 19, 2023 83 The police in Gombe State have rescued two kidnapped victims held in Shabewa Ward in Dukku Local Council of the state. Spokesperson for the Command, Mahid Muazu Abubakar, said the victims were rescued unhurt with no ransom paid . According to Abubakar, the command received credible intelligence on October 13, and launched a rescue operation with the support of the Police Mobile Team, Mopol 34 Kwami, and members of nearby hunter and vigilante groups. The operation, he said, spanned the Dukku, Bajoga, Kami, and Nafada axis where suspected kidnappers’ dens were identified. He said: “The rescue mission took the team 48 hours and successfully resulted in the hot chase and release of the two unhurt victims without ransom in the early hours of October 16. More details of the exercise will be communicated in due course . “The Gombe State Command appreciates the utmost commitment, dedication, and bravery shown by the joint team for a successful operation. However, the Commissioner of Police charges all involved personnel to ensure the arrest of the inhuman perpetrators. “The residents of the state are urged to remain calm and cooperate with the police authorities by providing useful information to curtail criminal activities in the state. The command can be reached through the emergency number, 08150567771. ” The Guardian had last week reported that suspected kidnappers on October 8, at about 2:55 a.m., invaded the residence of Umar Sambo of Shabewa ward in Dukku, Dukku Local Council with guns and other dangerous weapons. Sambo escaped into the bush while the abductors took one of his wives, Amina Usman Aliyu, and his brother, Mustapha Sambo to an unknown location.
