Residents in the community often use canoe to escape to an island to hide from bandits who frequently target the area. The incident occurred on Thursday when residents who had fled to the island on Wednesday attempted to return home, and their boat capsized. Recall that the attack by bandits on Wednesday night resulted in the death of three people, the rustling of cattle, and the abduction of several residents in Bassa near Gurmana. The spokesman for the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, is yet to respond to an SMS inquiry sent to him as of the time of this report.
