Within this period, 116 vehicular crashes involving petroleum tankers were recorded. The most recent of such crashes occurred on June 28, 2018 at Otedola Bridge, Lagos, razing down 55 vehicles and claiming 12 lives. Nigeria has lost about N7.157 billion to all these crash incidents. This week’s Nextier Policy Note foregrounds the underlying causes of these hugely consequential economic cum social capital losses and suggests viable ways out of the ugly trend.
