Nigeria’s battle with non-state actors continues as this review week (7th – 13th January 2024) recorded 18 violent incidents, resulting in 49 casualties and 131 kidnap victims across nine states. Katsina State ranked the highest in fatality count, recording 32 cases in the review week

The year 2024 begins against the backdrop of the Plateau State massacre, and non-state actors continue to ravage different parts of the country. This review week (31st December 2023 – 6th January 2024) recorded 16 violent incidents that resulted in 50 casualties (42 fatalities and eight injured persons) and 16 kidnap victims.

Even as the festive period draws near, Nigeria continues to experience oscillating numbers of incidents, casualties and kidnap victims. This review week (10th -16th December 2023) recorded 16 violent incidents that resulted in 31 casualties (28 fatalities and three injured persons) and 36 kidnap victims.

Between November 19th and 25th, 2023, 13 violent incidents resulted in 27 casualties (21 fatalities and six injured victims) and 13 kidnap victims. While violent incidents and casualty counts were reduced, the kidnap victims tally doubled compared to the previous week.
